  • "From the moment we walk in the door at Tiny Texans we are greeted with smiling faces and sweet ladies. The theme of the office is adorable and the waiting area has toys for kids of all ages to be entertained. You won’t wait there long though! We are always in and out super quick, Dr. Cristina is very thorough and informative in her appointments, and with my two littles it is always much easier than I expect taking them to the dentist. So glad we found Tiny Texans!!"

Your First Visit

Your child’s first visit to Tiny Texans Pediatric Dentistry will be short and sweet.

Bringing your child in for the first time is more about letting your child meet Dr. Christina Ramirez and getting used to the sights and sounds of the dental office in a nonthreatening way. If it makes the child—or parent—more comfortable, parents can hold their child on their lap while Dr. Christina does a brief but thorough examination.

During the examination, Dr. Christina will take a look at your child’s teeth, bite, and gums, checking for any potential problems. She will go over proper brushing and flossing technique to ensure oral care is being handled properly at home.

Other topics might include:

  • Teething
  • Fluoride or sealant treatment
  • Oral habits, such as thumb-sucking and tongue-thrusting
  • Developmental milestones
  • Proper nutrition

Dr. Christina will ask you about your child’s health and medical history, so be prepared to share that information. Parents are encouraged to ask questions if they have any concerns about their child’s oral health.

Scheduling Future Checkups

Dr. Christina recommends that children come in for an examination every six months. For children with higher risk of cavities, more frequent exams may be recommended. This will help to increase your child’s comfort in visiting the dentist, and it will enable Dr. Ramirez to monitor development and identify problems early on so they can be treated immediately.

Scheduling Dental X-Rays

There are no specific recommendations when it comes to children getting their first dental x-rays. Dr. Christina will make a recommendation based on your child’s health and habits.

Children who are at a higher risk for dental issues might have x-rays taken sooner rather than later. In general, by the time kids are about age five and have started getting their adult teeth, x-rays become necessary.

Parents should rest assured that digital radiographs are safe for their children; in fact, kids are exposed to more radiation outdoors in the sunshine than they’ll get with a digital x-ray.

Amenities You’ll Find in Our Office

Our entire office was created with the comfort and enjoyment of our small patients in mind.
